Non Payment of Car Tax & Clamping

..anyone know how this works? The daft bint who lives opposite me has just had this happen to her car- do they have ANPR trucks with clamps on board and they cruise the streets- if so surely there would be loads more than the odd odd one ? Or is it part of what parking wardens do now.?
As you can tell work is slow today ;-)

I know that TB- what Im saying is instead of going down this route- they could have upgraded the role of the old tax disc
That was the old system. Ever try and get a tax disc in the post office without your insurance and MOT (if MOT needed)?
It's also the new system. Try and tax your car online without insurance and MOT.

The point of getting rid of the discs was because they were an expense that was not needed. Paperless society, try it sometime ;-)

also interesting read up on your old MOT results - didnt realise that insufficient liquid in the windscreen washers was a failure!

the office window overlooks both the Police station and the DHSS/job centre and driving centre
having great fun with that site - lots of naughty people out there - especially in the police station car park :-)

Where they missed a trick on this is not migrating the combination of tax/insurance & MOT onto a single disc- that would actually fuck over the scammers liars & cheats i.e unless you have insurance and a vlaid MOT you dont get a disc and therefiore no tax disc on show, you get done. Simple aint it

In the olden days AOI you could walk up to the car and have a butchers at the windscreen for tax. What's the real difference here?

I'd never heard that you could check car tax online. Googled it, found the site but needed a car reg to have a go. Looked out of the window and tapped in the neighbours motor. Came up as not taxed!!!! Hahaha.

The dvla use an outside agency. They nearly clamped me but I managed to plea bargain the operative as i showed him a bank account payment to the dvla, which was for another car.

AOI- like defjam said you can check online takes next to no time you can also check if a car is insured and full M.O.T history aswell. So next time someone's fucks you off and you think they might be that way inclined have a look it's easy.

It'll be ANPR, as soon your VED expires it uploads to the Police's system and will flag if spotted.

Normally it's the DSA that clamp up un-taxed cars my business had this happen a few years ago. But if it was any other authority i.e traffic wardens or police depending on where you live(my area they don't have ANPR systems on board they have to do the relevant checks the old school way) then someone may well have dobbed her in especially if where you live there's limited parking ect.
